Pivotar con un prop\u00f3sito<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As\u00ed que aqu\u00ed estamos en un nuevo a\u00f1o en el que todos pens\u00e1bamos (o esper\u00e1bamos y rez\u00e1bamos) que el COVID, los retrasos en los materiales, la escasez de trabajadores y la escalada de precios podr\u00edan estar en nuestro espejo retrovisor, pero en lugar de eso, estamos mirando un espejo de cuerpo entero de estas cuestiones. Al evaluar la gesti\u00f3n de estos problemas, es aconsejable hacer una pausa y determinar si lo que hemos estado haciendo ha funcionado. Como dice el refr\u00e1n, \"hacer lo mismo una y otra vez y esperar resultados diferentes\" es la definici\u00f3n de locura.<\/p>\n

Por otro lado, preg\u00fantese qu\u00e9 ha estado haciendo para obtener buenos resultados. En ese caso, dedique m\u00e1s tiempo a esa actividad y elimine las actividades improductivas. Un m\u00e9todo que he descubierto recientemente es \"bloqueo temporal<\/a>.\" En lugar de hacer una lista de cosas por hacer (por lo que soy famoso), bloquea una cantidad espec\u00edfica de tiempo en tu calendario para realizar una tarea concreta. S\u00e9 que todos somos reaccionarios a las exigencias externas, pero cuanto m\u00e1s tiempo dediques a analizar y planificar los resultados que deseas, m\u00e1s probabilidades tendr\u00e1s de alcanzar tus objetivos.<\/p>\n

Todos sentimos que hay tantos problemas fuera de nuestro control que parece agotador. Sin embargo, todos tenemos control sobre c\u00f3mo reaccionamos ante estas presiones externas. Por ejemplo, en nuestra reciente sesi\u00f3n de planificaci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica de la CEI, el Consejo de Administraci\u00f3n reconoci\u00f3 que el principal problema de la gran mayor\u00eda de nuestros miembros es la escasez de mano de obra. No s\u00f3lo el sector el\u00e9ctrico tiene una necesidad acuciante de trabajadores, sino que parece que no hay sector que no reclame m\u00e1s trabajadores. La \"gran dimisi\u00f3n\" est\u00e1 sobre nosotros como nunca la hemos visto, y no parece que vaya a remitir pronto.<\/p>\n

El nuevo plan estrat\u00e9gico del CEI exige tanto la aplicaci\u00f3n de soluciones nuevas y creativas como el aumento de los recursos para aquellas actividades que han sido beneficiosas para encontrar y formar a nuevos trabajadores para los afiliados. Estas son algunas de las estrategias de nuestro plan 2022-24 que puede poner en pr\u00e1ctica para pivotar y abordar con determinaci\u00f3n la b\u00fasqueda de m\u00e1s trabajadores:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Contratar a una agencia de publicidad para que desarrolle o mejore su material de marketing de contrataci\u00f3n (\u00bfqui\u00e9n de nosotros es un experto en marketing?).<\/li>\n
  2. Adoptar una escuela secundaria de aspecto con \u00e9nfasis en los oficios (p\u00f3ngase en contacto con el Reclutador del IEC, Kevin Ward para una escuela y contacto - ward@iecatlantaga.org<\/a>)<\/li>\n
  3. Ampl\u00ede los lugares donde busca trabajadores, por ejemplo, hispanos, mujeres, iglesias, clubes deportivos, organizaciones de carreras y otros grupos que puedan tener intereses similares que coincidan con nuestra industria.<\/li>\n
  4. Contratar a una persona o agencia, o contratar personal a tiempo parcial, \u00fanicamente con la tarea de contrataci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n
  5. Eval\u00fae su escala salarial y su paquete de prestaciones. El CEI est\u00e1 llevando a cabo una encuesta salarial; aseg\u00farese de completarla antes del 31 de enero.st<\/sup>. IEC est\u00e1 ofreciendo ahora un programa de seguro de salud con descuento a trav\u00e9s de Humana, y no se olvide de nuestro programa de jubilaci\u00f3n 401k.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u00c9stos son s\u00f3lo algunos ejemplos de lo que puede hacer, y en los pr\u00f3ximos meses ver\u00e1 c\u00f3mo el CEI pone en marcha nuevos m\u00e9todos. No se trata de reaccionar de la misma manera ante los mismos problemas (no van a desaparecer), sino de adoptar nuevas estrategias que generen mejores resultados.<\/p>\n

Atlanta & Georgia Chapters"},"image":{"@id":"https:\/\/iecatlantaga.org\/#\/schema\/logo\/image\/"},"sameAs":["https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/IEC.Atlanta.Georgia\/","https:\/\/x.com\/atl_ga_electric","https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/atlanta-chapter-independent-electrical-contractors","https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/iecatlantaga2018\/"]},{"@type":"Person","@id":"https:\/\/iecatlantaga.org\/#\/schema\/person\/31b94af1a3a0b3c94dde1c467d819be6","name":"Marie","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","inLanguage":"es","@id":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/028e233f46c3ecde8684e0f139c88eecea42911f63274e42a2b74d186b713a8b?s=96&d=mm&r=g","url":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/028e233f46c3ecde8684e0f139c88eecea42911f63274e42a2b74d186b713a8b?s=96&d=mm&r=g","contentUrl":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/028e233f46c3ecde8684e0f139c88eecea42911f63274e42a2b74d186b713a8b?s=96&d=mm&r=g","caption":"Marie"},"url":"https:\/\/iecatlantaga.org\/es\/author\/marie_admin\/"}]}},"jetpack_featured_media_url":"https:\/\/iecatlantaga.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/AdobeStock_Pivot-scaled-e1646244016840.jpeg","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"publishpress_future_action":{"enabled":false,"date":"2026-05-24 03:00:11","action":"change-status","newStatus":"draft","terms":[],"taxonomy":"category","extraData":[]},"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":{"enabledWorkflows":[]},"builder_content":"<h2><strong>Pivot With A Purpose<\/strong><\/h2> <h2>By Niel Dawson, IEC Atlanta\/GA, Executive Director<\/h2> <p>So here we are in a new year when we all thought (or hoped and prayed) COVID, material delays, worker shortage, and price escalation might be in our rearview mirror, but instead, we\u2019re looking at a full-length mirror of these issues.\u00a0 As we evaluate managing these issues, it is advisable to pause and determine if what we have been doing has been working.\u00a0 As the old saying goes, \u201cdoing the same thing over and over and expecting different results\u201d is the definition of insanity!<\/p> <p>On the other hand, ask yourself what you have been doing to get good results?\u00a0 In that case, make more time to do more of that activity and eliminate unproductive activity.\u00a0 A method I have recently discovered is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/todoist.com\/productivity-methods\/time-blocking\">time blocking<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0 Instead of making a list of things to do (which I am famous for), block out a specific amount of time on your calendar to accomplish a particular task.\u00a0 I know we are all reactionary to the outside demands, but the more you can take time to analyze and plan for the results you want, the more likely you are to achieve your goals.<\/p> <p>We all feel there are so many issues outside of our control that it just seems exhausting.\u00a0 However, we all have control over how we react to these outside pressures.\u00a0 For example, at our recent IEC strategic planning session, the Board of Directors readily acknowledged the number one issue of a vast majority of our membership is workforce shortage.\u00a0 Not only is the electrical industry in dire need of workers, but it appears no industry is not clamoring for more workers.\u00a0 The \u201cgreat resignation\u201d is upon us like we\u2019ve never seen, and it doesn\u2019t seem to be subsiding anytime soon.<\/p> <p>IEC\u2019s new strategic plan calls for both implementing new and creative solutions and increasing the resources for those activities that have been beneficial to finding and training new workers for the membership.\u00a0 Here are a few strategies in our 2022-24 plan that you can do for yourself as you pivot and tackle purposely to find more workers:<\/p> <ol> <li>Contract with an ad agency to develop or upgrade your recruitment marketing material (who of us is a marketing expert?)<\/li> <li>Adopt a look high school with an emphasis on the trades (contact IEC\u2019s Recruiter, Kevin Ward for a school and contact \u2013 <a href=\"mailto:kevin.ward@iecatlantaga.org\">ward@iecatlantaga.org<\/a>)<\/li> <li>Expand where you\u2019re looking for workers, i.e., Hispanic, female, churches, sporting clubs, racing organizations, and other groups that are likely to have similar interests that match our industry.<\/li> <li>Contract with a person or agency, or hire part-time staff, solely with the task of recruitment.<\/li> <li>Evaluate your pay scale and benefits package.
