IEC has the workforce tools needed to recruit, train and retain your workers!  This monthly resource is all about Workforce, and designed is specifically for the person in charge of workforce.    You can look for this information source the 1st Wednesday of each month.  We are delivering our Workforce Power Source Bulletin to all IEC member workforce contacts.

Open Enrollment For Apprenticeship Ends Tomorrow, September 2nd!  You have until TOMORROW, September 2nd to register your workers.

– Atlanta In-Person 1st Year September: Students will attend class 2 nights per week on Mondays & Wednesdays for most of 1st Semester. After Thanksgiving Break, students will attend class 1 night per week on Wednesdays from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.

Sept. 13th- 1st Year Online September: Students will attend class on Monday nights from 7:00pm – 9:30pm.

Sept. 27th- 1st Year Columbus: Students will attend class on Monday nights from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.

Sept 28th- 3rd Year Savannah: Students will attend class on Tuesday nights from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.

Sept. 29th- 2nd Year Online September: Students will attend class on Wednesday nights from 7:00pm – 9:30pm.

Additional communication channels for Workforce Contacts: We have the capability to send text messages to accompany email announcements. If you would like to take advantage of this please provide us with a cell phone number to include in your IEC profile and be sure to “Opt In” when prompted by “DRG ECS on behalf of IEC ATL/GA”. This will allow you to receive text message prompts when workforce information is sent.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE: Helping You Build Workforce Instead of Buying it!
Open Houses/ Career Fairs

As your partner, IEC helps build capacity and opportunity for you to find new and existing talent to meet your workforce needs! To that end we are hosting a candidate Open House and Hiring Fair each month.

The August Open House was a great time of connecting with a group of 14 candidates to introduce them to careers an electrician and getting trained in the IEC Apprenticeship program. We toured the facility as well as shared the career path for an electrician. We included a short video on a “day in the life of an electrician” to help the candidates understand that to have this great career it requires hard work and sometimes less than ideal weather conditions. Open House:  September 22nd, 2021  1:00PM – 3:00PM- Training facility tour, Q&A, hands on activity for any student.
Monthly Hiring Fairs: September 29th, 2021 9:00am – 12:00pm- Candidates available to interview and hire, OOWL Apprentices, latest Installer Program Grads available for hire.  Register to attend and interview candidates.  Click here to find out what the Installer Program is and how it helps your workforce.
Construction Ready Hiring Fair:  September 9th, 2021  8:00am-3:00pm  Register to meet candidates.

IEC Basic Skills Installer Program:  The September Installer Program started today.  The link for October will be out soon.  Click here to find it on the training list.   Please, if you hired a worker from an IEC Career fair or one of the new IEC Basic Skills Installer Program graduates, let us know!  We have a quick and easy way for you to tell us who you hired and when!  Click this quick link and let us know!  

Introduction of the Accumulated Credit Transfer (ACT) Program – We will be working with qualifying local high schools to offer their graduating Electrical Program Completers an opportunity to enter the IEC Apprenticeship Program.

Article 314 & Chapter 9– (Tuesday ) September 21, 2021, 4:00PM – 8:00PM- Covers NEC requirements for outlet, pull and Junction boxes & Conduit/tubing Conductor fill.  

Article 250 Pt. 1– (Tuesday) September 28, 2021, 4:00PM – 8:00PM- This class will cover 2020NEC Requirements as they relate Grounding and Bonding of the Electrical System. 

Essential Estimating Skills.– (Friday – Sunday) September 10th– September 12th, 2021, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM- Essential Estimating Skills gives you the information and education needed to begin understanding how bids are put together and what you need to complete accurate estimates.  

GA Electrical Exam Prep. –(Friday – Sunday) October 29th, 2021 – October 31st, 2021, 8:00am – 4:30pm- This course helps you get ready to take the Electrical Contractor License Exam based on the NEC 2020.
