IEC’s 2019 Power Show exploded with nearly 1,000 attendees and close to 70 vendors at the Cobb County Civic Center on May 7th! IEC’s fourteen, 4th year apprentices started as early as 8:00am competing in the IEC wire off until 4:00pm. These apprentices demonstrated electrical skills throughout the day. IEC is all about the electrical industry, so what better way to demonstrate this than through an electrical competition!
The annual job fair took place between 1 and 4pm, with Workforce Development Coordinator, Delast Muhammad and quite a few IEC contractors conducting onsite interviews, invited interested parties into potential electrical careers! At 2:00pm the doors opened and the trade show began! Vendors shared their products, services and donated gifts that IEC raffled throughout the day. Some of the top gifts included, a large Yeti cooler from City Electric Supply, a couple of sets of Braves tickets from Mayer Electric, and the highly coveted Braves gift basket including 4 tickets, parking pass and access to the Delta Club from Selec Source! There was a special raffle for IEC’s GIFT foundation with another Yeti cooler as a prize. Barbecue was served at 5pm thanks to IEC BBQ cooks Chad Brooks and Mike Sasser! Delicious job gentlemen!
IEC’s Executive Director, Niel Dawson is the visionary of this tremendous affair, but he cannot pull it off alone. Thanks to IEC sponsors who make it happen at a new level every year! Sponsors for T-shirts, and banners could be seen throughout the building. Elliott Electric Supply sponsored the show bags, Atlanta Electrical Distributors sponsored the Lanyards; you can thank partner member JL Lighting for the fantastic Drink bar and Graybar for the Apprentice of the Year materials and BBQ Smoker.
As many vendors and attendees stated, “this is the electrical show in Atlanta!”
